Job summary

Southern Cross Motel Group in Mackay, Queensland, is seeking an experienced Permanent Motel General Manager or a team with strong food and beverage and conferencing focus to lead our busy property.

The role covers daily operations across Front Office, F&B, housekeeping and maintenance, with on-site accommodation, meals, utilities, and a competitive salary. You will build and motivate teams, drive profitability and guest satisfaction, and ensure compliance and standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in motel/hospitality management with strong F&B and events exposure.
• Ability to lead multi-department teams and manage budgets.
• Relocation to Mackay and onsite living required.
• Knowledge of WHS and licensing regulations.

Southern Cross Motel Group are actively seeking experienced professional Permanent Motel Gerneral Manager or Team with strong food and beverage/conferencing focus for our property in Mackay Queensland.

Our Full Time Managers work on a roster that offers 14 days off at the end of every cycle plus a great home, with utilities, meals, competitive salary.

The Role:

Take full management responsibility of this busy motel with themed food & beverage venue, conferencing and events. We are a Four Start Regional Motel Group that pride ourselves on a high standard of regional accommodation and with our own Branded food and beverage business that caters to our customer's needs. Our managers perform the key function of ensuring that we build a strong and effective teams and that our service culture is met whilst maximizing profitability whilst delivering superior customer service.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations within each department of the motel, including Front Office and Reception, Dinner and Breakfast Service, Housekeeping, Grounds and Maintenance.
• Be hands on and lead by example.
• Provide effective leadership, guidance, and communication.
• Provide support and training on the motels standards, policies and procedures, operational requirements, and business objectives.
• Manage the operational performance of the motel through meeting and exceeding set budgetary requirements.
• Proactively seek sales and marketing opportunities,
• Ensue a focus on continuous business development in Food and Beverage through proactive selling and online social media application.
• Manage performance of employees, coordinate recruitment, induction, training, and development of staff.
• Manage and resolve guest services in a timely and appropriate manner to ensure optimum guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and report weekly and monthly upon the motel’s financial performance against the operational budgets.
• Ensure motel is compliant and operating within all company guidelines, as well as compliant to all legal requirements including WH&S, liquor and food licensing, fire safety.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Approved Manager of a Licensed Venue
• Room Sales and Online Channel Booking Management. (Guestpoint & Siteminder)
• Experience with Opentable/Kounta and TANDA
• Good understanding of both Rooms Division and Food & Beverage operations.
• Great with people and the ability to build rapport easily
• Passionate and motivated to succeed.
• Must be willing to relocate and live onsite.
• Know your roster in Regular scheduled RDO's.
