Qualifications

• 1-5 years' PQE in defendant insurance litigation.
• Strategic mindset for complex disputes and navigating court procedures and ADR.
• Strong client service focus with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Work on a broad mix of defendant insurance matters including CTP, public liability, property damage, subrogated recovery, and indemnity matters.
• Collaborate with the insured team led by David Slatyer to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Provide sound legal analysis and client-focused advice across matters.
• Manage varying work priorities and deadlines in a dynamic practice.
• Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior lawyers within the team.

The Role

Due to growth of our Brisbane Insurance team, we’re now seeking a Lawyer or Associate (1-5 years' PQE) to work alongside David Slatyer and his team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across a diverse range of insurance matters while working closely with experienced practitioners who are committed to your development.

You will work on a broad mix of defendant insurance matters, including:

• Compulsory Third Party claims
• Public liability claims
• Property damage claims
• Subrogated recovery actions
• Insurance coverage and indemnity matters

Who We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

• Between 1-5 years' PQE in defendant insurance litigation
• A strategic mindset to complex disputes, confidently navigating court procedures and alternative dispute resolution
• Consistently deliver results that align with client objectives
• Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and managing conflicting priorities
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills with a strong client service focus=
