Mills Oakley is a leading national law firm hiring a Lawyer or Associate to join our Insurance team in Sydney. The role focuses on Public Liability and Professional Indemnity matters, working with Michael Down and Nikki Cassar.

• 1-4 years’ PQE in litigation.
• Experience in Public Liability and Professional Indemnity is preferred.

• Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally.
• Identifying issues, briefing experts and analysing opinion.
• Preparing court documents, including statements of evidence.
• Drafting correspondence and communicating with other practitioners.
• Preparing for, managing online processes and appearing in Court.
• Briefing and liaising with counsel.

An opportunity for a Lawyer (1-4 years' PQE) to work alongside Michael Down and Nikki Cassar on Public Liability and Professional Indemnity matters.

The Role

A great career opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer or Associate to join our Insurance team in Sydney. In this role you will be working with Michael Down and Nikki Cassar across a range of litigation matters in the area of Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. Our team has been acknowledged for its leading position working with a local government mutual and with a major insurer in Australia.

Initially, you will manage smaller matters with minimal supervision in the Local and District Court working up towards larger matters in the District and Supreme Courts.

• Communicating with clients both in writing and verbally

Who We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Between 1-4 years’ PQE, ideally from a defendant firm. Candidates with a plaintiff background will be considered
• Demonstrated experience in litigation
• A professional approach with a client service focus
• The ability to prioritise tasks and operate in a fast-paced environment
• A strong academic record from a well-respected university
