Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Australia is seeking a practically minded production team member to assist the Sheeting and Print Operator. You will help convert sheeted stock into printed sheets prepared for die cutting or outside processing, ensuring continuous running through setup support, material handling, and routine maintenance.

Requirements include 2+ years in sheetfed operation or assisting, knowledge of printing processes, and ability to work to deadlines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of printing process and workflow.
• Understanding of sheetfed machine operation and setup.
• Awareness of chemicals used in printing processes.
• 2+ years’ experience in sheetfed operation or assisting.
• Experience working to deadlines and KPIs, exposure to FMCG.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Sheeting and Print Operator to prepare stock for printing.
• Support machine setup and consumables for each run.
• Monitor sheeted board condition and prep for die cutting.
• Ensure continuous feeding and machine operation.
• Help maintain quality and productivity targets.
• Assist with routine maintenance per Daily Equipment Care.
• Operate or assist with hoists as needed.
• Replenish bulk consumables and keep Press Room tidy per GMP.

About the role

To assist the Sheeting and Print Operator to convert sheeted stock into printed sheets ready for die cutting or outside processing of specialty prints.

What You’ll Do

• Review workload with operator to ensure all preparation work is managed in a timely manner to ensure continuous running of the machine.
• Assist the Operator with setup of the machine and consumables to the standard required in preparation for the run (make ready).
• Review and check the condition of sheeted board, pile turning as required in accordance with job specifications.
• Responsible for continuous supply of board and operation of the feeder system.
• Assist Operator with each job to ensure quality and productivity requirements are met.
• Assist Operator with machine operation to ensure continuous running.
• Assist Operator with routine maintenance in accordance with the Daily Equipment Care program.
• Ability to safely operate or assist with the operation of hoists.
• Replace and replenishment of bulk consumables as required (e.g. Coating and Ink Drums).
• Responsible for housekeeping of Press Room in accordance with GMP Policy and Audits.
• Assist in cross training other staff where applicable.
