Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Sydney, Australia, seeks a practically minded sheetfed operator to support the Sheeting and Print Operator in turning sheeted stock into printed sheets ready for die cutting.

You'll assist with setup, stock checks, machine operation, and routine maintenance, while meeting deadlines and KPIs in a fast-paced FMCG environment. Training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of printing process
• Understanding of machine function and operation
• Chemical awareness
• 2+ years’ experience in sheetfed machine operation and/or assisting.
• Demonstrate experience working to deadlines and KPIs.
• Prior exposure to FMCG.

Responsibilities

• Review workload with operator to ensure preparation is timely for continuous running.
• Assist setup of the machine and consumables for the run (make ready).
• Check sheeted board condition and perform pile turning per job specs.
• Ensure continuous supply of board and operation of the feeder system.
• Assist with each job to meet quality and productivity targets.
• Assist machine operation to maintain continuous running.
• Participate in routine maintenance per Daily Equipment Care program.
• Operate hoists safely when required.
• Replace and replenish bulk consumables (coating/ink drums).
• Maintain housekeeping in Press Room per GMP policies.
• Cross-train other staff where applicable.

About The Role

To assist the Sheeting and Print Operator to convert sheeted stock into printed sheets ready for die cutting or outside processing of specialty prints.

What You’ll Do

• Review workload with operator to ensure all preparation work is managed in a timely manner to ensure continuous running of the machine.
• Assist the Operator with setup of the machine and consumables to the standard required in preparation for the run (make ready).
• Review and check the condition of sheeted board, pile turning as required in accordance with job specifications.
• Responsible for continuous supply of board and operation of the feeder system.
• Assist Operator with each job to ensure quality and productivity requirements are met.
• Assist Operator with machine operation to ensure continuous running.
• Assist Operator with routine maintenance in accordance with the Daily Equipment Care program.
• Ability to safely operate or assist with the operation of hoists.
• Replace and replenishment of bulk consumables as required (e.g. Coating and Ink Drums).
• Responsible for housekeeping of Press Room in accordance with GMP Policy and Audits.
• Assist in cross training other staff where applicable.
