Job summary

Mind Australia is seeking a Lived Experience Led – Peer Practitioner (Internal Applicants Only) for a fixed term, part-time role based in Geelong. The Peer Healing Space provides short-term support in a home-like setting and is designed and run by an experienced peer workforce.

The successful candidate will draw on their lived experience to support others’ healing and recovery. The role requires completion of Intentional Peer Support training; a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work is

Qualifications

• Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/ or Advanced Training.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required.
• Completion of other relevant Consumer Discipline trainings are desired but not required eg: Consumer Perspective Supervision, Alt2Su, Hearing Voices etc.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and abilities gained from lived experiences and Lived Expertise to support recovery-oriented practice.
• Support the team to understand and role model delivery of services consistent with recovery-oriented peer work.
• Walk alongside people during their stay using the Intentional Peer Support model, maintaining connection even in distress.
• Assist the person with navigating systems and linkages to community agencies for better participation.
