Job summary

Insignia Financial is seeking a GCP Data Engineer/Modeller to work on enterprise-wide data assets powering analytics, reporting, and business decisions. You will design analytical data structures on a state-of-the-art Google Cloud data platform, dealing with complex source systems and applying data modelling expertise to deliver scalable solutions.

The role focuses on data architecture, modelling, and pipeline development, leveraging BigQuery and Airflow/Composer in a modern cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytical data modelling, and transformation design
• Strong knowledge of analytical data modelling concepts (facts, dimensions, grain, historical patterns)
• Experience with Data Vault modelling and enterprise data modelling frameworks
• Proven ability to translate complex source systems into scalable data solutions
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with complex transformation logic in BigQuery environments
• Experience with large and complex datasets in enterprise environments
• Exposure to data orchestration/workflow tools such as Airflow or Composer
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Analyse complex source systems to understand data structures, semantics, and data quality
• Map source data into enterprise and analytical data models for consistency and usability
• Design, develop and refine analytical data structures supporting reporting and analytics
• Create and maintain documentation for data lineage, mappings, and modelling decisions
• Build and enhance data pipelines ingesting, transforming, and integrating data across platforms
• Develop and maintain DAGs/workflows with clear dependencies and transformation logic
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability
• Partner with stakeholders to validate data definitions and modelling assumptions
• Support delivery of high-quality, trusted data assets for informed decision-making

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse complex source systems to understand data structures, semantics, and data quality characteristics
• Map source system data into enterprise and analytical data models to ensure consistency and usability
• Design, develop, and refine analytical data structures that support reporting, analytics, and integration requirements
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data lineage, mappings, and modelling decisions
• Build and enhance data pipelines that ingest, transform, and integrate data across multiple platforms and consumption layers
• Develop and maintain workflow orchestration processes and DAGs with clear dependencies and transformation logic
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Partner with business stakeholders, data analysts, and technology teams to validate data definitions and modelling assumptions
• Support the delivery of high-quality, trusted data assets that enable informed business decision-making

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytical data modelling, and transformation design
• Strong knowledge of analytical data modelling concepts, including facts, dimensions, grain, and historical data patterns
• Experience with Data Vault modelling and enterprise data modelling frameworks
• Proven ability to analyse complex source systems and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
• Advanced SQL skills and experience implementing complex transformation logic, ideally within Google BigQuery environments
• Experience working with large and complex datasets in enterprise environments
• Exposure to data orchestration and workflow tools such as Airflow or Composer
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
