Job summary

Hays Trades & Labour in Canberra is seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to guide a skilled on-site crew across ACT. You will lead daily maintenance tasks, mentor teammates, and ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery on a range of commercial and government sites.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in garden or grounds maintenance.
• Experience leading or supervising small teams.
• Current Driver's Licence.
• Ability to operate garden maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Desirable: Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent.
• Previous experience maintaining commercial or government sites.
• Knowledge of plant health management and pest control practices.

Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating daily garden maintenance activities.
• Providing hands‑on support and mentoring team members on‑site.
• Mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching and fertilising.
• Identifying and reporting plant health or site maintenance issues.
