Job summary

Balaclava Hotel in Cairns is seeking an experienced Gaming Manager to own the busy gaming room, lead host operations, and drive room standards on the floor.

This hands-on role involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties. You’ll know regulars by name, work with the Publican to run the room safely and within all rules, share gaming know-how with your team, and bring great service and energy to every shift. RSA and RSG/RCG certifications are required.

Job description

Are you an experienced gaming leader with a passion for high-touch player service and room atmosphere? The Balaclava Hotel is looking for a dedicated Gaming Manager to take ownership of our busy gaming room, direct host operations, and drive room standards across our flagship Cairns room.

In this role, you will be the driving force on the floor, combining genuine guest hosting with sharp technical operations, compliance management, and staff leadership. Working closely with the Venue Manager, you’ll focus on maintaining a premium room environment, building long-term player loyalty, and delivering outstanding gaming trade results.

Inherent requirements

This is a hands-on role that involves manual handling and lifting as part of regular duties (e.g. moving stock, kegs, and deliveries). Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks safely and efficiently.

About you

• You’ve been in the gaming room world for a while, as an attendant, supervisor, or manager
• You’ve learned from great managers and are ready to step up
• You’ve got the confidence, pride, and people skills to be the face of the gaming room
• You understand compliance and safe gaming inside out
• You’ve got a current RSA and RSG/RCG as per state requirements
