Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Gambling Help Counsellor & Educator in Rockhampton to deliver client-centred counselling and education across the Gambling Help Service. The role supports individuals, couples and families affected by gambling, promoting wellbeing and healthier outcomes.

The incumbent will hold a Diploma in Counselling or equivalent, with demonstrated counselling experience and the ability to deliver education programs.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Counselling or equivalent is required.
• Experience in counselling settings, ideally addressing addiction/gambling.
• Experience delivering education and awareness programs to communities.
• Knowledge of strength-based approaches in trauma/addiction counselling.
• Case management skills with focus on outcomes and service improvement.
• Group facilitation and community education experience preferred.
• Current Driver's License is required.
• Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide empathetic and non-judgemental gambling counselling to individuals and families.
• Promote public awareness about problem gambling and related social issues through targeted information.
