Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District in Broken Hill is seeking a casual Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). You will provide timely trauma-informed care to victims on a rotating roster, operating within integrated medical forensic and psychosocial responses for sexual assault cases.

The role requires registered nurses or midwives with APHRA, and a minimum of 5 years' clinical nursing experience; training and 24-hour on-call readiness are emphasised, with opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years nurse experience in clinical work as a Registered Nurse or Midwife.
• Registered as a Nurse, Midwife, Sexual Health Nurse or Women's Health Nurse with APHRA.
• Graduate Certificate Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault completed.
• Trauma informed and culturally safe practice.
• Respond to call outs on a 24-hour roster as per NSW Health guidelines.
• Able to work in a team with sexual assault counselling staff.
• Current C-class motor vehicle licence.

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely trauma informed care to victims of sexual assault on a casual call rotating roster. The SANE role will operate within the Far West Local Health Districts integrated medical forensic and psychosocial responses for sexual assault victims.

• Being female is a genuine occupational qualification for this position as described under Section 31 of the Anti- Discrimination Act, 1977 (NSW) and be Registered as a Nurse, Midwife, Sexual Health Nurse or Women's Health Nurse with a current registration with APHRA.
• Minimum 5 years nurse experience clinical work as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with an interest in working in the area of violence abuse and neglect.
• Successfully completed the Graduate Certificate Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault Course prior to practising in the role of a SANE. The FWLHD will financially support the cost of training and attendance at workshops.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a trauma informed and culturally safe manner.
• Able to respond to call out on a 24hour roster, within the timeframes as per the NSW Standard and Guidelines for NSW Health Sexual Assault Services, NSW Domestic Family Violence Standards and Guidelines and the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Medical Protocol.
• Ability to work in a team with Sexual Assault counselling staff and be flexible to work within a 24 hour roster.
• Demonstrated advanced level of communication (written and verbal) interpersonal and negotiation skills with variety of clients, groups, staff and agencies.
• Current 'C' class motor vehicle licence.
