Job summary

Far West Local Health District in Broken Hill is recruiting for a Sexual Assault Worker at Level 4 seniority with a permanent full‑time contract. The role provides therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have experienced sexual assault within a multidisciplinary NSW Health team.

You will work towards cultural competence and partner with local services to improve communication with Aboriginal communities. The position offers a supportive rural health environment.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of trauma‑informed care and cultural safety.

Job description

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro‑rated to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What You'll Be Doing

Working within a strength based, family centred and culturally centred trauma informed approach, this role will provide therapeutic and casework services to adults and children who have been sexually assaulted, and their non‑offending family members. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, this role will provide quality services to patients / clients of NSW Health to meet their health and wellbeing needs. The role will partner with the local sexual assault service to develop a deeper level of awareness and understanding of how to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people who may engage with these specific services. Working towards cultural competence is a responsibility of all SAS staff.
