Job summary

Optiver's FutureFocus internship at our Sydney office invites pre-penultimate students to explore technology and trading through a hands-on five-day program, with potential for a 2028/29 summer internship.

You'll learn from former traders and engineers, engage in classroom and hands-on learning, and receive mentorship as you explore developer, trader, or researcher paths with everyday perks.

Travel and accommodation are covered if you reside outside Sydney.

Qualifications

• Eligible for pre-penultimate university students graduating in 2029 or 2030 studying at an Australian or New Zealand university.
• Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian Permanent resident, or on an Australian student visa.
• An inquisitive thinker with a passion for quantitative problems and collaborative, dynamic environments.
• Holds superior quantitative and logical reasoning skills with a focus on results.
• Excited to test yourself in one of the most dynamic areas of the financial market.

Responsibilities

• Led by former traders and engineers, our education team will guide you through market making. You will be immersed in hands-on and classroom learning to thrive in trading and technology.
• As part of the FutureFocus program, you’ll have the opportunity toKickstart your journey as a developer and explore our tech career pathways.
• Learn the core fundamentals of trading and build trading strategies for deployment in a virtual market.
• Connect with recent graduates and hear their personal experiences.
• Receive mentorship and support from our in-house trainers and senior developers.
