Job summary

The Recruitment Company is seeking a Functional Tester in Sydney’s Macquarie Park on a 2-year fixed-term contract. The role sits in a hybrid-working setup, contributing to a major digital transformation project and owning testing activities within an Agile squad.

You will design and run manual and automated tests, review requirements, manage defects in Azure DevOps, and collaborate with analysts, product owners and developers to deliver high-quality software with robust test automation support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software testing experience, including at least 2 years in an Agile environment.
• Experience with functional, integration and regression testing.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and execute manual and automated test cases across functional, integration and regression testing.
• Review user stories and acceptance criteria with BAs, POs and developers to ensure clarity and testability.
• Manage defects from identification through resolution using Azure DevOps.
• Support UAT with business stakeholders.
• Contribute to test automation framework development and maintenance.
• Identify testing risks and communicate results to drive quality.

About the role

Looking for your next opportunity to make an impact on a major digital transformation program? We're looking for a Functional Tester to join a collaborative delivery team at a leading organisation in the financial space. You'll play a key role in the testing of a new mobile application, working in an Agile squad environment to ensure new features and functionality meet business requirements and deliver a high-quality user experience. This is an opportunity to take ownership of your testing activities while contributing to the continuous improvement of testing practices and automation across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and execute manual and automated test cases across functional, integration and regression testing.
• Review user stories and acceptance criteria, working with Business Analysts, Product Owners and developers to ensure requirements are clear and testable.
• Manage defects from identification through to resolution using Azure DevOps.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of test automation frameworks and suites.
• Identify testing risks, communicate results and help drive quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of software testing experience, including at least 2 years working in an Agile environment.
• Strong functional testing experience, with exposure to both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A proactive, analytical approach with strong ownership of your work and a continuous improvement mindset.
• A degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field, relevant testing certifications, and exposure to financial services regulations are advantageous.
