Job summary

Blackcoat, a premium boutique vineyard and winery in Ellinbank, Victoria, is seeking a Head Winemaker and Vineyard Manager. This is a hands-on, permanent full-time position overseeing viticulture and winemaking operations to produce wines of the highest quality.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in viticulture and winemaking, strong leadership and budgeting skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years viticultural experience.
• Experience with farming equipment, machinery and irrigation systems.
• Knowledge of organic and biological farming.
• Ability to plan, schedule and lead work programs.
• Experience supervising contractors.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Experience with spreadsheets, record-keeping and budgeting.
• Preferably relevant tertiary qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Minimum 10 years experience in winemaking operations from harvest through to bottling.
• Technical understanding of all winemaking aspects and with relevant tertiary qualifications.
• Clear vision of wine style and connection to vineyard.
• Assist in brand awareness with sales and marketing activities.
