Job summary

BMD Northcliffe Surf Club on the Gold Coast seeks an experienced Chef to join the kitchen team. You will work across all sections in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong wok-section experience highly regarded.

Full-time role with a rotating roster including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. To succeed you should hold a commercial cookery qualification and have at least two years in a busy kitchen.

Qualifications

• Eligible for a relevant commercial cookery qualification.
• Minimum two years in a commercial kitchen.
• Experience as Chef or commis in a busy venue.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple kitchen sections.
• Strong wok experience preferred.
• Experience in high-volume restaurant or club operation.
• Sound knowledge of food safety practices.
• Ability to manage time and prioritise.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present menu items per recipes and standards.
• Work across grill, pans, larder, breakfast, fryer and wok as needed.
• Coordinate prep and service within a section.
• Maintain quality, portions and presentation.
• Ensure safe food temperatures and storage.
• Monitor stock and replenish during service.
• Assist with stock rotation and receiving.
• Minimise waste through proper prepping and portion control.
• Maintain clean, organized workstation.
• Support junior kitchen staff and communicate with team.
• Follow food safety and club procedures.
• Assist chefs with operational needs.
