Job summary

Club Mermaid on the Gold Coast is seeking a full-time Chef to join our kitchen team. You will prepare, cook and present quality meals while maintaining high standards and consistency.

The role requires formal commercial cookery qualifications and at least one year of full-time experience, or 3-5 years as alternative. You will manage stock, follow recipes, ensure food safety, and collaborate with front-of-house for efficient service.

Qualifications

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and presenting meals to a consistently high standard
• Following recipes and maintaining consistent portion sizes and presentation
• Monitoring stock levels, checking deliveries and ensuring food is stored correctly
• Minimising food wastage and maintaining effective stock rotation
• Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and following food safety and hygiene procedures
• Working closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver efficient service

About you

• Have relevant formal qualifications in commercial cookery
• Have at least one year of relevant full-time experience in addition to formal qualifications, or three to five years of relevant full-time employment may be considered in place of formal qualifications
• Have sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe kitchen practices
• Be able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen while maintaining quality and consistency
• Demonstrate strong communication, teamwork and time management skills
• Be available to work a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays

Remuneration

An annual base salary of $75,000-$80,000, plus superannuation, will be offered based on qualifications and experience.
