Job summary

Canva Melbourne is seeking a frontend engineer focused on accessibility to work on the Editor. You will design and build accessible interactions, test with screen readers, and collaborate with the Editing Group to ship inclusive features.

The role emphasizes embedding accessibility into the component architecture and collaborating across disciplines to ensure accessible outcomes. In a hybrid setup, you’ll contribute to a design tool used by millions, shaping how accessibility is implemented by

Qualifications

Experience building accessible web applications with WCAG in practice, not just on paper.
Hands-on experience developing with screen readers and debugging assistive tech.
Ability to work in a large frontend codebase and embed accessibility into system design.
Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a focus on accessibility.
Clear, cross-disciplinary communication to explain technical accessibility concepts.

Responsibilities

Design and build accessible interactions in the Editor, including focus management and ARIA roles.
Use screen readers as a daily development tool to test, debug and validate work.
Collaborate with engineers to build accessible features from the start and review PRs.
Identify systemic accessibility gaps and develop architectural solutions rather than patching issues.
