Job summary

Qube Ports seeks an experienced Operations Manager to lead Fremantle operations, driving safety, productivity and business growth. The role oversees daily operations, ensuring efficient use of labour, equipment and resources to meet targets while maintaining a strong safety culture.

You will build customer relationships, identify growth opportunities and foster continuous improvement to deliver excellent operational and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience within stevedoring, ports, logistics, transport, mining, heavy industry, or similar operational environment.
  • Experience working in high-risk operating environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational performance, budgets, and customer relationships.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, or a related field (preferred).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to lead and manage our Fremantle operations, driving safety, productivity, customer service excellence, and business growth.

In this senior leadership role, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring labour, equipment, and resources are utilised effectively to achieve operational and financial targets. Working in a dynamic, high-risk environment, you will be responsible for maintaining safe and efficient operations, enhancing profitability, and ensuring the business remains competitive.

You will play a key role in building strong customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to deliver exceptional operational and commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the site finances to meet targets
  • Develop and implement business plans to ensure profitable growth and development opportunities
  • Manage the compliance of all customers, quality assurance and documentation and procedural requirements
  • Drive business growth through customer retention, service expansion, and new business opportunities
  • Identify and manage operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement operational and business improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Industrial Relations Agreements, WHS, environmental legislation, and company policies.
  • Optimise the use of labour, equipment, and assets to meet operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop operational leaders and employees to build workforce capability.
  • Manage performance, employee relations, and workforce issues in line with company policies and industrial agreements.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, vessel representatives, agents, and key stakeholders to achieve service and performance targets.
  • Lead risk assessments, safety initiatives, and incident investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Participate in Safety Committee and Employee Representative Committee meetings to drive positive safety outcomes.
  • Oversee maintenance activities to ensure assets are reliable, compliant, and managed within budget
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven management experience within stevedoring , ports, logistics, transport, mining, heavy industry, or similar operational environment
  • Experience working in high-risk operating environments
  • Strong understanding of operational capabilities of machinery and lifting gear
  • Experience working in regulated workplace environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational performance, budgets, and customer relationships
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, or a related field (preferred)
