Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Freight Project Officer in Newcastle for a fixed term full-time role. The position focuses on researching and evaluating freight initiatives, providing data-driven insights to inform priorities and funding decisions.

The role supports updating Freight Benefit Guidelines and collaborates across multidisciplinary teams to strengthen freight appraisal and investment prioritisation, contributing to strategic decision making.

Qualifications

• Experience in undertaking research, quantitative analysis, economic evaluation or evidence-based assessment to support decision making.
• Ability to analyse complex information, identify meaningful insights and translate technical findings into clear recommendations.
• A background in economics, engineering, finance or a related quantitative discipline is preferred, supporting strong analytical and evidence-based project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Support the assessment and development of freight initiatives by undertaking research, economic analysis and evidence-based evaluation.
• Provide research, data analysis and project insights across multidisciplinary teams to inform freight priorities, investment decisions and funding opportunities.
• Support the ongoing development and refresh of the Freight Benefit Guidelines, while working across multidisciplinary teams to strengthen freight appraisal, investment prioritisation and strategic decision making.
