Job summary

Aurizon, based at the Stuart Terminal in Townsville, is seeking a safety‑mocused Operator to join the full‑time team. You will operate medium/heavy forklifts and reach stackers, perform maintenance, and conduct machine checks in a dynamic rail and logistics environment.

We welcome applicants with DL and DG considerations; strong problem solving and communication skills, and willingness to work day, afternoon and night shifts including weekends where needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and safe operating practices.
• RS Class Driver’s Licence preferred, DG license beneficial and may be obtained during employment.
• Forklift and crane tickets are required or highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium/heavy forklifts and reach stacker, service and perform basic maintenance on rolling stock.
• Conduct serviceability checks on all machines.
• Operate and maintain heavy lifting equipment (over 16 tonnes) and other terminal/site equipment.

Join Aurizon and play a key role in keeping Australia's freight network moving. Based at our Stuart Terminal in Townsville, we're seeking safety-focused and reliable Operator to join our team on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced operators who enjoy hands‑on work, operating heavy lifting and terminal equipment, and working as part of a close‑knit team in a dynamic rail and logistics environment. You'll be supported with ongoing training, development opportunities, and the chance to build a long‑term career with one of Australia's leading transport and logistics companies.

About the role:

• * Operate medium/heavy Forklifts and Reach stacker, Provision, service, clean and perform lower‑level maintenance on rolling stock.
• * Serviceability checks on all machines.
• * Operate and maintain heavy lifting equipment (exceeding 16 tonne) and other sundry terminal and site equipment.

About the Candidate

• * Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• * RS Class Drivers Licence (preferred).
• * DG license would be highly regarded, but not essential (will be obtained in the course of employment).
• * Forklift & Crane tickets.
• * Strong commitment to safety and knowledge of rules and regulations of operations area, Workplace Health& Safety, and Dangerous Goods.
• * Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• * A willingness to work day, afternoon & night shift (up to 12hr shifts) and including weekend work as required.
