Talkcargo is seeking a Freight Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis in Maroochydore, QLD. This role is central to our aviation freight and cargo forwarding operations, ensuring the smooth coordination and management of shipments from origin to destination. As a Freight Operations Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining operational excellence, optimising logistics processes, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and problem-solving skills are highly valued.

What you'll be doing

Coordinate and manage freight shipments through all stages of the forwarding process, ensuring timely pickup and delivery

Prepare and process shipping documentation, including air waybills, bills of lading, invoices, customs declarations and other required paperwork

Liaise with carriers, shipping lines, customs brokers and other logistics partners to arrange transport and resolve operational issues

Track and monitor shipment progress, providing clients with regular updates on delivery status and shipment locations

Manage freight bookings and capacity planning across various transport modes (air, sea, road and rail)

Resolve logistical challenges and exceptions, including damaged shipments, delays and documentation discrepancies

Maintain accurate records and databases of shipments, ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry regulations

Communicate with clients to confirm requirements, address concerns and ensure satisfaction with services delivered

Ensure all operations comply with customs regulations, health and safety requirements and international shipping standards

What we're looking for

2+ years' experience in freight forwarding and cargo operations.

Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, documentation and customs regulations

Experience in freight forwarding software systems (Cargowise) and Microsoft Office applications

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

Attention to detail and accuracy in processing documentation and data entry

Problem-solving ability and resilience when managing unexpected operational challenges

Knowledge of different transport modes (air freight, sea freight and road) and their operational requirements

Familiarity with customs procedures and import/export regulations is highly desirable

A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
