Job summary

Googong High School in NSW is seeking the founding Head Teacher of Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) to lead a new interdisciplinary STEM faculty. You will drive curriculum design, support incoming teachers and assist in the school's operational setup as it opens to Year 7–8 in 2027.

This role demands strategic leadership, strong teaching experience, and the ability to develop staff capacity while aligning with Learning Sciences and NSW Department of Education priorities.

Qualifications

• Unconditional full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education.
• WWCC clearance number provided with application.

Responsibilities

• Capacity to lead the implementation of a high-impact, innovative STEM curriculum that delivers strong educational outcomes for students of all abilities and year groups.
• Proven strategic leadership capacity, with the ability to plan for and meet the needs of a faculty during a time of rapid growth and expansion.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop the capacity of other staff to deliver quality teaching practice to all students.
• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
