Job summary

Creating Links is seeking a Carer Support Worker to join our Permanency Support Program. You will recruit, assess, train and support foster carers to provide safe, nurturing care for children and young people, working with case managers to support authorisation and care journeys.

You will conduct assessments, home visits, and reports; deliver training; provide supervision and support groups; and assist with placements, transitions, and after-hours coverage, all while upholding trauma-informed,

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma with relevant experience in child protection, foster care or related fields.
• Experience conducting carer assessments, home visits, and compliance checks.
• Ability to deliver training and support groups for carers, including those for whom English is a second language.
• Sound knowledge of PSP, child protection legislation and accreditation standards.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care, child development and attachment theory.

Responsibilities

• Support carer recruitment through information sessions and community outreach.
• Conduct carer assessments and authorisation reviews, including home visits and reporting.
• Deliver pre-authorisation and ongoing training, coaching, and support groups.
• Provide supervision and practical support to carers, including placement challenges and wellbeing.
• Contribute to placement matching and support transitions for children and carers.
• Respond to urgent concerns and participate in rostered after-hours service.
• Promote culturally safe practices and respond to safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance.
