VACCA is recruiting for a Permanent, Full Time Foster Care role based in Preston. The position supports Aboriginal children and young people in foster care, working with families and carers to promote reunification where possible.

You will work within a culturally safe framework, advocate for Aboriginal children, engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to ongoing professional development and a supportive team environment.

About the role

The Foster Care Program provides a culturally safe service to support Aboriginal children and young people who are living in foster care placements. The Program provides support to the families of the children, young people and to carers. VACCA works towards reuniting children and young people, wherever possible, with their parents and extended families

About You

• Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose


• Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people


• Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children.


• Demonstrated professional experience in the Out of Home Care sector


• Demonstrated ability to advocate for Aboriginal children and young people


• Demonstrated experience to communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way with a range of stakeholders including staff and external parties

Desirable

• Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Worker and/or substantial experience in these fields is desirable.


• Minimum 2 years of experience

Requirements

• Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and aVictorian Driver Licence.Current COVID-19 vaccination(Strongly Recommended)
