Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II who embeds directly with enterprise customers to design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineering team. You will own end-to-end AI workstreams, deliver production-grade software, and coach others on best practices.

Responsibilities include designing cohesive AI systems, driving production deployment, monitoring, and optimizing for latency, reliability, and cost.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience.
2+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience with agentic development (AI agents a plus).
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams; translate requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems. Travel 30–50%.
Design and develop production-grade software powering AI and agentic workflows; integrate data sources and existing applications.
Own production for your workstream; design, code, test, deploy, and maintain with CI/CD.
Mentor and uplift: coach others on high-quality code and review processes.
Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
