Job summary

Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking a Forest and Fire Operations Officer - Technical Lead to plan, coordinate and deliver forest and fire management activities across the region. You will provide technical leadership within the District Operations team, mentor staff and coordinate work programs to ensure safe, efficient field operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in bushfire operations, forest operations, natural resource management or a related field.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coordinate work programs and support the development of others.
• Sound problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in dynamic operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Working within the District Operations team, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor staff, coordinate work programs and help ensure the safe and efficient delivery of field operations.
• You’ll work closely with planners, contractors, local communities and partner agencies, bringing practical expertise and local knowledge to projects that support Victoria's forests, parks and public land.
• You’ll be part of a team that values safety, teamwork, capability development and continuous improvement while contributing to meaningful work that protects communities and the environment.
