Job summary

DEECA is seeking a Forest and Fire Operations Officer - Field Team Leader based in Castlemaine. The role is full-time and permanent, with a strong emphasis on emergency response and field leadership. Duties include directing field teams, planning operations, and coordinating fire management activities across Victoria’s forests and public lands.

Applicants must hold a current manual Drivers Licence (conditions A, I & V not acceptable). Pre-employment checks and medical fitness are required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading field work delivery teams.
• Understanding of natural resource management with forest operations knowledge.
• Ability to achieve accreditation and maintain competencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead field work delivery teams to plan, direct, and coordinate tasks.
• Deliver fire management and firefighting activities in state forests and national parks.
• Perform outdoor duties including road/culvert maintenance and use of field equipment.
