Job summary

Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Food Services Assistants to join our hospitality team on a casual basis. In this fast paced environment, you will take pride in your work and deliver high-quality patient meals while respecting dietary needs.

You will be part of a supportive team at John Hunter Health Campus, with opportunities for training and development in food safety, service excellence and patient-centred care. The role requires flexibility across shifts and on-call availability.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in a hospital or aged care food service.
• Completed Basic Food Handling Training (or working towards).
• Certificate III in Hospitality (or working towards).
• Authority to Work in Australia.
• NSW Working with Children Check.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Commitment to service excellence.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily food preparation and basic meal assembly
• Deliver, serve and collect all patient food requirements and meal trays
• Assist in general cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils including dish and pot washing as required.
• Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a professional and positive team culture.
• Provide high standard of customer service
• Operate in line with WHS policy & procedures
• Deliver excellent customer service to staff, clients and patients
• Have demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development

As a Food Service Assistant your responsibilities will include:

• Hold a valid NSW Working with Children check for Employment ('E'[)
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
• Commitment to service excellence
• Strong communication and customer skills

• Work well independently and within a team
• Available for a variety of shifts & on call shifts
