Job summary

Sutherland Shire Council is rolling out Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) and seeks a Waste Educator to engage residents, schools and groups across the Shire. You will lead education activities, represent Council at events and drive participation and positive environmental outcomes.

Ideal candidates have experience in education or community engagement and strong communication skills, with a passion for sustainability and customer-facing work.

Qualifications

• Experience in education or community engagement is required.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle priorities.
• Passion for sustainability and community impact.

Responsibilities

• Deliver community education and engagement activities supporting the rollout of FOGO.
• Represent Council at events, workshops, presentations and community activations.
• Develop and deliver clear, engaging waste and recycling education.
• Support campaigns promoting resource recovery initiatives, including the Community Recycling Centre.
• Build positive relationships with residents and stakeholders.
• Help turn awareness into action through effective behaviour change programs.
