Job summary

Advanced Navigation is seeking an engineer to develop and advance control and signal processing solutions for Fibre Optic Gyroscopes (FOG). The role sits within a multidisciplinary team to enhance sensor performance, robustness and reliability through modelling, algorithm development and hardware validation.

The position focuses on optimizing closed-loop control and DSP for FOG performance, translating system requirements into FPGA-ready designs and ensuring production-ready solutions through

Qualifications

• Degree in control, electrical or related engineering field.
• Experience in real-time control and DSP for embedded systems.
• Strong skills in mathematical modelling, simulation and data analysis.
• Experience validating algorithms on hardware and with system-level issues.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize closed-loop control and DSP algorithms for FOG.
• Create models and analysis methods to guide design decisions.
• Investigate performance limits and validate improvements experimentally.
• Collaborate with photonics, electronics, FPGA and firmware engineers.
• Define performance requirements and verification approaches.
• Support system integration, characterization and troubleshooting.
• Provide ownership across the development lifecycle and deliver packages.
• Plan and manage technical work packages, including risk and documentation.
