Job summary

Evergrain Flooring on the Gold Coast is looking for a motivated Junior Timber Floor Layer / Labourer to join our growing team. This entry-level opportunity offers hands-on training with experienced timber floor layers and direct mentorship from the business owner.

No previous experience is necessary. We’re more interested in your attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn, with potential for a formal apprenticeship as you progress.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; attitude and willingness to learn take priority.
• Physically capable of labour-intensive work.
• Reliable, punctual and hard-working with a positive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laying hybrid, engineered timber and laminate flooring.
• Learn measuring, cutting and laying flooring products.
• Prepare, grind and level subfloors.
• Uplift and remove existing flooring as needed.
• Assist with skirting boards and finishing details.
• Load, unload and organise materials and tools.
• Maintain clean, safe and organised job sites.

Working directly alongside the business owner and experienced timber floor layers, you'll receive hands-on training and learn the trade from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with laying hybrid, engineered timber and laminate flooring
• Learning how to measure, cut and lay flooring products
• Preparing, grinding and levelling subfloors
• Uplifting and removing existing flooring
• Assisting with skirting boards and finishing details
• Loading, unloading and organising materials and tools
• Maintaining clean, safe and organised job sites
• Learning professional timber floor laying techniques and industry practicesAssisting with general labouring duties as required

About You

• Genuinely interested in learning a trade
• Physically capable of undertaking hands-on, labour-intensive work
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Takes pride in their work and pays attention to detail
• Able to follow instructions and work well within a small team
• Respectful and professional when working in clients' homes
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport (preferred)
• Previous construction experience is an advantage, but definitely not essential
