The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Australia & Northern Territory (RFDS SA/NT) invites experienced flight nurses to join the Alice Springs team in 2026. Reporting to the Flight Nurse Manager, you will work in a diverse, rewarding aeromedical environment, delivering primary health care and critical care in remote SA & NT communities.

Qualifications include AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife, at least five years post-registration with three in critical care, and a minimum one

Qualifications

• Minimum five years post-registration experience including three years in critical care.
• Minimum one year consolidated midwifery practice.
• Experience delivering care in remote aeromedical environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver aeromedical and primary health care, including emergency retrievals, as part of a regional team.
• Provide high-quality patient care in remote SA & NT locations with a collaborative approach.

We have opportunities available as we strategically expand our RFDS operations in the Territory. Reporting directly to the Flight Nurse Manager, you will work in a diverse, fulfilling and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

• Be at the forefront of aeromedical health services, providing primary response, intensive care, midwifery and trauma services, including emergency retrievals, as part of our high-performance aeromedical team in regional, rural and remote SA & NT
• Work in a dynamic environment using your skills and experience to deliver outstanding patient care, where two days are never the same.

About You

• A healthcare professional who takes pride in delivering high quality nursing and midwifery care
• Professional in your approach to service delivery
• Willing to work collaboratively with other health professionals, pilots, and operational employees to provide high quality health care in a remote environment
• Have a great sense of adventure

Qualifications

• AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife
• Minimum five (5) years post registration experience which must include a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a critical care environment, after completion of a recognised tertiary post graduate certificate (or higher) in either Emergency Medicine or Intensive Care. The experience must be in either a:
  1. Recognised Major Regional or Tertiary Hospital Emergency Department with 24 hour in-Department medical coverage
  2. Recognised Intensive Care Unit
  3. Cumulative of three years critical care experience across both environments
• Minimum one (1) year consolidated midwifery practice
