Job summary

Football Australia in New South Wales is seeking an Assistant Accountant – Finance Operations to support day-to-day financial activities, with a focus on PlayFootball financial operations, accounts receivable and general accounting support.

Within the Finance team you will help ensure accurate records, perform reconciliations, processing of refunds, distributions and reporting, and work with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvements in systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts receivable functions.
• Experience supporting month-end accounting processes.
• Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and basic data analysis.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines within a high-volume transactional environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience using finance systems or ERP platforms, particularly Technology One.
• Experience working with registration and competition systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day financial operations of the PlayFootball registration platform, including reconciliations, refunds, disbursements and financial reporting.
• Reconcile PlayFootball registration receipts and bank accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as required.
• Process the accurate and timely distribution of registration funds to Member Federations, Associations and Clubs.
• Review and process approved refunds and support the management of chargebacks and related enquiries.
• Raise customer invoices, allocate incoming payments and monitor outstanding debtor balances.
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and assist in resolving reconciling items.
• Support month-end and year-end accounting activities, including preparation of working papers and schedules.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation in line with internal controls, policies and accounting requirements.
• Provide responsive support to internal and external stakeholders on finance-related queries.
• Partner with Digital Support and Product teams to resolve PlayFootball finance issues and support system improvements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, controls and workflows.
