Job summary

TAL, a leading Australian life insurer, is seeking a Corporate Counsel for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will provide trusted legal guidance to support informed business decisions, manage risk, and deliver outcomes for customers across claims, underwriting and other business areas.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to review product documentation, negotiate agreements, and train teams on legal matters, contributing to TAL's growth while upholding regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Admission to practise law in Australia with at least 3 years' post qualification experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage litigated matters in partnership with external legal counsel.
• Manage disputes lodged with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and other external complaints bodies.
• Provide legal advice and support to the Claims and Underwriting teams, as well as other business areas as required.
• Deliver training and legal guidance to Claims and Underwriting stakeholders.
• Provide legal advice and support to Risk and Compliance on matters relating to the Life Insurance Code of Practice.
• Support the Internal Dispute Resolution team with legal advice and guidance.
• Partner with other Legal teams to review product documentation and a range of commercial agreements and documents.
