Afford in Melbourne is seeking a Casual Disability Support Worker to assist clients across SIL and community programs. You’ll deliver person-centred support that respects rights and independence while helping clients reach daily goals and engage with their communities.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support or above.
• Experience in disability support, preferably SIL or community settings.
• Current or willing to obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check/ Yellow Card and Working With Children Check/ Blue Card.
• Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Australian work rights validation (Passport, Birth Certificate, or Citizenship Certificate).
• Willingness to complete National & International Police Check (paid by Afford).
• Willingness to complete a Pre-Employment Medical/Functional Assessment (paid by Afford).

Responsibilities

• Providing personalised support in line with individual support plans.
• Supporting clients with daily living activities and developing independence.
• Supporting clients to access community activities, appointments and social programs.
• Assisting clients to achieve their personal goals and build confidence.
• Providing support with personal care where required.
• Supporting clients with varying support needs, including high-intensity needs where required.
• Following Behaviour Support Plans and NDIS Practice Standards.
• Promoting choice, dignity, independence and human rights in every interaction.
• Maintaining accurate and timely client documentation.
• Working collaboratively with clients, families, colleagues and other professionals.
