Job summary

Uniting NSW.ACT is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to join the Family & Carer Mental Health Program at Penrith with community outreach. You’ll provide practical and emotional support to families and carers, helping them build confidence and wellbeing.

Employment is part-time (3 days a week, Mon-Wed), 8am–4pm, SCHADS Level 2, with salary packaging benefits and a supportive, diverse workplace that values recovery-oriented practice and carer-centred outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, or equivalent and relevant to the field.
• Understanding of carers’ experiences and challenges.
• Experience providing individual advocacy for families and carers.
• Ability to facilitate support groups for families and carers.
• Understanding of Recovery Oriented Practice principles.
• Ability to develop individual support plans with carers to reach goals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; valid driver’s licence.
• Experience with the Outcomes Star is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual support, advocacy, education and training to families and carers.
• Facilitate carer support groups and develop individual support plans.
• Support carers to build resilience and coping skills within a recovery-oriented framework.
