Job summary

Queensland Government in Rockhampton seeks a Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle) to join the Fleet Maintenance team. You will service and repair fire appliances and pumping systems to meet NHVR and regulatory requirements, ensuring equipment remains fit for purpose.

Under the Workshop Supervisor, you will complete job sheets, use diagnostic tools, and participate in ongoing training to maintain high standards in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be able to obtain a Medium Rigid license prior to appointment.
• Trade certification as an Engineering Tradesperson - Level 1 Motor Mechanic (Heavy Vehicle) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in heavy vehicle environment or similar light vehicle trades considered with certification updates.

Responsibilities

• Undertake servicing, repairs and maintenance of fire appliances and related equipment.
• Service/repair firefighting and pumping systems to manufacturer specs.
• Use hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment safely and in compliance with WHS requirements.
• Participate in manufacturer and in-house training to maintain competencies.
• Diagnose faults (including electrical) for fire appliance fleet and perform road tests if required.
• Update parts inventories, listings and job sheets via Fleet Maintenance System.
• Communicate with Workshop Supervisor on condition of equipment after maintenance.
