Job summary

Queensland Fire Department is seeking an Apprentice Motor Mechanic to join our Fleet Maintenance workshops, repairing light and heavy vehicles and equipment used in firefighting operations.

The four-year heavy vehicle apprenticeship provides PPE, quality training, and hands-on experience with modern diagnostic equipment, supported by experienced tradespeople in a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s licence and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Eligibility for enrolment in or progression towards a relevant Trade Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
• Commitment to complete a four-year apprenticeship and obtain a nationally recognised qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in repair, maintenance and installation of fire appliances and equipment.
• Learn and work under supervision of qualified tradespersons to ensure compliance with heavy vehicle regulations.
• Diagnose potential faults and assist with repairs using hand and specialised tools.
