Job summary

Macedon Ranges Shire Council is seeking a proactive accounting professional for a fixed-term 12–14 month contract. You will deliver accurate accounting services, support internal and external reporting, and assist with budgets, variance analysis and year-end processes.

Strong Excel skills and Australian standards knowledge are essential. You will engage with managers and staff to improve processes, meet deadlines, and provide clear financial advice.

Qualifications

• Three years’ accounting experience with emphasis on financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and GST legislation.
• Experience with banking, treasury, cash management and forecasting is desirable.
• Degree in Accounting/Business preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience with TechnologyOne or similar integrated finance system is valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate accounting services and timely management reporting.
• Prepare actual-to-budget variance analysis and assist with budgets and financial statements.
• Complete general ledger reconciliations and support audits and FBT requirements.
• Provide accounting advice and help managers with system/process improvements.
