Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Specialist Fixed Plant Readiness – Electrical & Controls for a multi-generational mine project in WA. You’ll design operational readiness processes, lead safety-focused reviews, and ensure robustness across study through ramp-up.

Roles include Perth-based study phase with 5/2/5/2 roster and site travel, transitioning to a 5/2/4/3 FIFO roster during implementation. Strong governance and stakeholder engagement are essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical & Control Systems Engineering.
• Experience with fixed plant electrical and control systems in mining or safety-critical environments.
• Knowledge of HV/LV systems, switchgear, protection, drives, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA.
• Experience with functional safety systems is advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder communication and relationship-building.
• People influencing and governance skills.
• Sound judgement and safety leadership in mining or related industry.

Responsibilities

• Create value by optimizing and sustaining value with leading practices across study, design, construction, commissioning, handover and ramp-up.
• Represent operations and maintenance needs in design, risk and readiness reviews, focusing on safety, operability, maintainability and reliability.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve wider business objectives.
• Provide advice and support through all project stages in line with Rio Projects endorsed methodology.
• Identify opportunities for improvement including safety in design, reliability, operations and maintenance of assets.
• Ensure compliance to regulatory standards and industry best practice.
