Job summary

EQ Resources Limited is seeking an Operator – Fixed Plant at Mt Carbine, QLD. You will monitor and operate plant equipment to meet production targets and quality standards, with responsibilities spanning inspections, sampling, and basic maintenance.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in fixed process plant operations, mechanical aptitude, and strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities. The role includes safety responsibilities and site housekeeping in a busy mining environment.

Qualifications

• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
• Highly organized with strong time management and communications skills to manage changing priorities.
• Systems savvy and comfortable with technology, particularly intermediate MS Office.
• Queensland Heavy Rigid (HR) (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Continually monitor the plant to ensure optimal operational output.
• Adjust plant/equipment control parameters within operating guidelines to achieve production and quality targets.
• Carry out sampling, preparation, and testing of process streams according to approved instructions.
• Operate mobile equipment (front end loader and forklift) according to standard procedures.
• Be the 'eyes and ears' of the business for WHS, production and maintenance purposes.
• Carry out housekeeping of the plant to ensure a safe work environment.
• Operate fixed or mobile equipment including start-ups and shutdowns as directed.
• Carry out defined inspections on a regular basis throughout the shift.
• Carry out minor mechanical repairs to the plant within your ability and training.
• Carry out plant section stops and starts according to current instructions.

The location and Lifestyle:

Mt Carbine has a rich history of tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 75 kms from the beautiful seaside town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland where the Daintree Forest meets the Great Barrier Reef. The Mt Carbine Tungsten mine is 120km North of Cairns International Airport via sealed highway. Neighbouring the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan Highway, The Mt Carbine Tungsten Mine is central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. For those with families, there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the region.

About the Role:

As an Operator – Fixed Plant, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. The role involves adjusting operating parameters to achieve production and quality targets, conducting routine inspections and process testing, operating mobile equipment, and performing basic maintenance activities. You will play a key role in identifying safety, production, and maintenance issues, while maintaining high housekeeping standards and supporting plant start-up, shutdown, and operational activities in accordance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out defined inspections on a regular basis throughout the shift.
• Carry out minor mechanical repairs to the plant within your ability and training.
• Carry out plant section stops and starts according to current instructions and training.
