Job summary

CQUniversity invites applications for a full-time VET Teacher – Fitting and Machining in Gladstone, with relocation support available. The role offers a starting salary of AU$107,697 plus 17% superannuation and a fully funded teaching qualification (TAE40122). 5.4 weeks annual leave and an opportunity to train the next generation of tradespeople.

No prior teaching experience is required; experience in industry is highly valued, with support to obtain teaching credentials while employed.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.
• Current hands-on industry experience in mechanical trade work.
• Interest in mentoring apprentices and guiding learners.
• No teaching experience required; willingness to work in a structured setting with assessment and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Teach, prepare, mark and support students in the workshop and classroom.
• Deliver hands-on training and share industry knowledge.
• Contribute to student support and assessment tasks.
• Coordinate with apprentices and ensure safe workshop practices.
