Job summary

Acrodyne Pty Ltd in Bayswater, Victoria, seeks an experienced Fitter & Turner to join our workshop team. You will assemble and modify electric and pneumatic actuator systems used in critical industrial applications.

Responsibilities include reading engineering drawings, machining with lathe/mill, testing actuators, refurbishing equipment, and supporting field service when required. A trade qualification and driver’s licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner or Mechanical Fitter
• Strong mechanical assembly and fitting experience
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Experience using lathes, mills and general workshop machinery
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Sound troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Fitter & Turner / Mechanical Tradesperson

Acrodyne is a 100% owned and operated Australian company who is a leader in Valve Actuation, Instrumentation and Control solutions supporting our customers involved in the process industries across Australia and New Zealand.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Fitter & Turner to join our Bayswater workshop team.

This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled mechanical tradesperson who enjoys working with manual machinery & tooling, practical problem solving, and working with high-quality industrial equipment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the assembly, modification, testing and servicing of electric and pneumatic actuator systems used in critical industrial applications.

• Assembly and fitting of mechanical actuator components
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Machining and fabrication activities using manual workshop equipment
• Inspection, testing and fault-finding of actuators and valve automation systems
• Refurbishment and repair of customer equipment
• Assisting with workshop quality assurance processes
• Maintaining a safe, organised and efficient work environment
• Supporting commissioning and field service activities when required

The Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or similar
• Strong mechanical assembly and fitting experience
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Experience using lathes, mills and general workshop machinery
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Sound troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Current driver's licence

Highly Regarded

• Experience with actuators, gearboxes, valves or rotating equipment
• Industrial, water, mining or oil & gas industry experience
• Welding and fabrication skills
• Basic electrical knowledge
