Job summary

Coates is looking for a Field Service Mechanic to service and repair hire equipment across the FNQ region, based in Cairns. You’ll maintain on-site service records, minimize downtime, and handle a variety of machinery with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

The role is permanent full-time with a Monday–Friday roster, some calls outs, and attractive hourly rates with overtime penalties.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification and applicable trade certs required.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on site.
• Strong ability to provide safe, high-quality customer service.

Your New Role In Cairns Awaits

As a Field Service Mechanic, based in Cairns, you will assume responsibility for the efficient and effective servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of our extensive range of hire equipment and machinery on customer sites, all over the FNQ region.

You Will Also Be Responsible For

• Promote a Safety First, Zero Harm culture – champion safety with your colleagues and customers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a variety of equipment on site – work on Access, Earthmoving, Compaction, Generators, Lighting, Traffic Management, Trucks & Vehicles, Small Tools & Equipment and Material Handling, whilst always ensuring exceptional customer service and high standard of safety.
• Maintaining up-to-date service records for all service and repair work.
• Minimise operational downtime of equipment.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• Drivers Licence & Relevant Trade Qualifications
• Troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skills
• Experience with petrol and diesel motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical skills
• Forklift & EWP ticket (highly regarded)
