Job summary

Coates Hire Operations Pty Limited in Cairns is seeking a Field Service Mechanic to service, repair and perform preventative maintenance on a wide range of hire equipment across the FNQ region. You will work on customer sites, diagnose faults, and ensure high safety standards while delivering excellent service.

Based in Cairns, you will manage time effectively, maintain service records, and participate in a roster with some on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventive maintenance skills.
• Experience with petrol and diesel motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical skills.
• Drivers Licence & Relevant Trade Qualifications.
• Forklift & EWP ticket (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Promote a Safety First, Zero Harm culture – champion safety with your colleagues and customers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a variety of equipment on site – work on Access, Earthmoving, Generators, Lighting, Trucks & Vehicles, Small Tools & Equipment, and Material Handling.
• Maintaining up-to-date service records for all service and repair work.
• Minimise operational downtime of equipment.

Your new role in Cairns awaits:

As a Field Service Mechanic, based in Cairns, you will assume responsibility for the efficient and effective servicing, repair and preventative maintenance of our extensive range of hire equipment and machinery on customer sites, all over the FNQ region.

You will also be responsible for:

• Promote a Safety First, Zero Harm culture – champion safety with your colleagues and customers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a variety of equipment on site – work on Access, Earthmoving, Compaction, Generators, Lighting, Traffic Management, Trucks & Vehicles, Small Tools & Equipment and Material Handling, whilst always ensuring exceptional customer service and high standard of safety.
• Maintaining up-to-date service records for all service and repair work.
• Minimise operational downtime of equipment.

What you’ll bring to the role

In addition to effective time management, attention to detail and strong commitment to safety, you will also require:

• Drivers Licence & Relevant Trade Qualifications
