Job summary

Optimized Ortho Pty Ltd, part of the Corin Group, is seeking a motivated Fitter & Machinist Apprentice to join the Machine Workshop in Pymble, Sydney. You will complete your Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade while learning the requirements of the medical device industry and gaining hands-on experience in precision machining of surgical instruments.

You will learn to set up and operate mills and lathes, perform inspections with micrometers and calipers, and contribute to quality

Qualifications

• Formal trade qualification required for apprenticeship.
• Understanding of quality systems and GMP desirable.
• Ability to learn precision machining processes.

Responsibilities

• Precision machining and learning to set up and operate conventional vertical mill, centre lathe, grinder.
• Perform service and repair of surgical instruments, as directed.
• Adhere to quality procedures and record keeping requirements in accordance with the company's quality management system.
• Assist with routine maintenance and calibration of workshop tools, adhering to ISO 13485 and GMP.
• Perform good inwards receipt process for instruments and raw materials.
• Quality inspections using measuring tools (micrometers, callipers) to inspect finished parts.
• Creation of work orders and lot records.
• Assist with production related tasks as required.

Fitter & Machinist – 3rd/4th year apprentice

Optimized Ortho Pty Ltd, part of the Corin Group of Companies, is seeking a motivated and positive Fitter & Machinist Apprentice to join the Machine Workshop based in Pymble, Sydney. In this role you will complete your formal trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade) while learning the requirements of the medical device industry. The Machine workshop performs repairs, reworks and refurbishment of surgical instruments used in Total Hip & Knee replacement surgery.

Key responsibilities

Precision machining, learning to set up and operate conventional vertical mill, centre lathe, grinder etc.

Perform service and repair of surgical instruments, as directed

Adhere to relevant quality procedures and record keeping requirements in accordance with the company's quality management system

Assist with routine maintenance and calibration of workshop tools, adhering strictly to ISO 13485 and Good Manufacturing Practices

Perform good inwards receipt process for instruments and raw materials

Quality inspections using measuring tools (micrometers, callipers) to inspect finished parts against drawings

Creation of work orders and lot records

Assist with production related tasks as required
