Job summary

AKD Softwoods is seeking a Shift Maintenance Fitter to join our timber processing operations in Queensland. You will report to the Shift Team Leader and focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving preventive maintenance programs to keep production running smoothly.

The role involves 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 roster with potential overtime; you will work with a team, including apprentices, to resolve maintenance challenges and improve equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified fitter with relevant Australian certifications.
• Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and electro-mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service plant equipment to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement rectifications to minimise downtime.
• Plan and organise daily maintenance tasks to align with operations.

Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our plant and equipment. This hands-on position focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving preventive maintenance programs to minimise downtime and support production goals.

Roster: Lifestyle-friendly 12-hour shifts (24/7 roster) with a 7-day rest period every 4 weeks.

Remuneration: Attractive 24/7 shiftwork package with opportunities for overtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively in a team environment, including with apprentices, to resolve day-to-day maintenance challenges.
• Perform preventive maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns to minimise production disruptions.
• Analyse faults, provide solutions, and implement rectifications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards.
• Plan, organise direct and control the daily tasks you are undertaking to align with operational requirements.
