Job summary

InfraBuild Reinforcing is hiring a Maintenance Fitter to keep our heavy industrial steel processing equipment running safely and efficiently. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will fault-find, repair and optimise mechanical systems across our sites.

You will work with hydraulics, pneumatics and large-scale plant, read engineering drawings, and deliver work in line with InfraBuild standards. A trade qualification and at least five years' experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical fitting within steel, FMCG, heavy industry, or industrial engineering.
  • Strong expertise with mig welding, valves, pumps, actuators, hydraulics, and heavy plant equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults, conduct overhauls, and implement preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and work independently or within a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Tickets and other licenses are highly regarded (Drivers licence, Forklift, Working at Heights, Crane).

  • Install, test and commission new equipment on-site and in workshop.
  • Conduct routine servicing, overhauls, and refurbishments of steel and processing plant and equipment.
  • Read drawings, schematics and specifications to complete fabrication tasks.
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with InfraBuild standards.

Job description

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimisation of mechanical systems critical to steel processing and heavy industrial operations. You’ll work with large-scale equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics and processing equipment, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency across our sites.

What you will be doing
  • Perform fault-finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy industrial equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement engineering solutions to maximise uptime and efficiency
  • Carry out installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment both in workshop and on-site environments
  • Conduct routine servicing, overhauls, and refurbishments of steel and processing plant and equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to complete fabrication and assembly tasks
  • Ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with InfraBuild standards
Hours suited to work/life balance

2pm to 10:10pm Monday to Friday plus overtime available and paid at overtime rates.

Pay rate

$52.00 - $60.00 (dependent on skills and experience) + 15% afternoon shift loading + 12% super + bonus + overtime, with potential to grow your income as you build experience with us!

What you will bring
