Job summary

Saltbush is seeking a First Nations male mentor to support the REAL Program in Tennant Creek. The role provides culturally safe, trauma-informed guidance to empower participants to pursue education, employment and community reconnection.

The position is part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term (1 April 2026 - 30 June 2030) in Tennant Creek with occasional travel to other Saltbush service locations. Remuneration is $80k–$85k pro rata + 12% super, salary packaging and 5 weeks annual leave.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with participants across pre- and post-release phases.
• Deliver pre-release mentoring within correctional facilities, including program participation.
• Provide intensive post-release outreach and daily support during the initial transition period.
• Co-develop Transitional Case Plans with participants and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support practical settlement needs including transport, appointments, documentation, Centrelink and banking.
• Assist with work readiness, resumes, interview practice and job retention mentoring.
